Police shot and killed a dog they said was chasing a woman and her 2-year-old child on the Eastside.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Brian Mack used a shotgun to kill the dog at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as it lunged at him to within 6 inches in an alley in the 200 block of Jefferson Avenue, according to a police report.
After being shot, the dog hobbled to the front porch of its owner's house on the 2200 block of New York Street, according to the report. Indianapolis Animal Care and Control officers took it away.
Mack said the dog had been chasing Dickie Wilson, 42, and her young child.
The dog's owner, Karolin Jones, 38, said the dog slipped out the back door.
